Norfolk Southern agrees to 0 million federal settlement about Ohio practice derailment

Norfolk Southern has agreed to pay out $310 million to settle fees in excess of the East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment that occurred in February 2023, with the vast majority of that going to cleanup prices.
The company will pay out a $15 million great for alleged violations of the Clear Drinking water Act as element of the federal settlement.
Norfolk Southern is estimating it will spend $1.7 billion in whole charges linked with the incident.
