SHANGHAI — Chinese electric car or truck firm Xpeng announced Friday it will be rolling out its newest assisted driving software package to users in the metropolis of Shanghai, anything its U.S. rival Tesla does not provide in China.
Previously the technology was only out there for Xpeng motorists in Shenzhen and Guangzhou. The business now presents assisted driving on highways in China.
The new tech, called XNGP, promises to make driving a lot easier with computer software that helps with easy braking at targeted traffic lights, turning at intersections and other tasks on town streets.
U.S.-outlined Xpeng lags big Chinese electrical automobile startups in phrases of the latest regular deliveries. But the firm has tried to make its assisted driving technological know-how a providing place for individuals.
“Tesla does not genuinely pump Autopilot in China and they will not offer you Comprehensive Self Driving (FSD) in China, whilst Xpeng really leaned into its NGP as a change maker for the China market,” explained Tu Le, founder of Beijing-dependent advisory agency Sino Vehicle Insights.

Xpeng’s head of autonomous driving and vice president Xinzhou Wu instructed reporters Friday he is a consumer of Tesla’s FSD in the U.S.
He claimed that “lots of aspects” of Xpeng’s product or service have been on par with FSD. He and his workforce also emphasized how they ended up systematically screening the assisted driving application for forthcoming rollout in 100 Chinese metropolitan areas.
