Trump takes fight over foreign aid funding to U.S. Supreme Court

President Donald Trump’s administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday to put on hold a federal judge’s order requiring the government to pay foreign aid funds to contractors and grant recipients for past work.

The administration filed a request urging the justices to halt Washington-based U.S. District Judge Amir Ali’s order, arguing that it amounted to judicial overreach. Ali’s order gave the administration a deadline of 11:59 p.m. Wednesday night.
