President Donald Trump said Monday he is reducing the 50-day deadline he gave Russian President Vladimir Putin to either reach a peace deal with Ukraine or face massive “secondary tariffs” on Moscow’s trade partners.

“I’m disappointed in President Putin,” Trump said in Scotland alongside United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer before a bilateral meeting with the European leader.

“I’m going to reduce that 50 days I gave him to a lesser number,” Trump said.

He did not share that new number. The White House did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for additional information.

Trump had set that deadline on July 14, saying that buyers of Russian exports would face tariffs “at about 100%” if there was no ceasefire deal with Ukraine by September.

Trump once avoided criticizing Putin, but he has made his frustrations known in recent months as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has intensified.
