Toyota to launch 10 new battery EV models by 2026, government claims

Toyota Motor Corp aims to introduce 10 new battery electrical car styles by 2026, a senior govt said on Friday, as the Japanese automaker seems to be to capture up in electric autos.

Toyota will also established up a new, specialised unit to concentrate on battery EVs and is targeting annual generation of 1.5 million battery-powered automobiles by 2026, Hiroki Nakajima, the company’s main know-how officer, explained at a briefing.

The improve would mark a sharp upturn from Toyota’s current ranges of electrical motor vehicles.

The automaker, the world’s premier by revenue, has pushed back versus criticism it has been too slow to embrace battery-powered automobiles. Toyota argues that a combine of selections – which includes gasoline-electrical hybrids, would make additional sense for its global customer base.
