The Philippines Department of Migrant Employees identified two of the seafarers killed and two of the crew associates hurt in the incident as Filipino in a social media put up early Thursday.

“With good sadness, the Office of Migrant Staff (DMW) confirms the fatalities of two Filipino seafarers in the most the latest assault by Houthi rebels on ships plying the Purple Sea and the Gulf of Aden,” it claimed, withholding their names and identities. “We are also knowledgeable that two other Filipino crewmen have been severely hurt in the assault on their ship.”

“The naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a targeting operation towards the American ship (Legitimate Self esteem) in the Gulf of Aden, with a range of acceptable naval missiles.
