South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has been re-elected leader of the governing African Countrywide Congress (ANC) at a bash management contest, an ANC formal explained on Monday.
Ramaphosa experienced been extensively tipped to protected re-election for a next 5-calendar year term as ANC leader at the five-working day accumulating currently being held in the country’s major metropolis Johannesburg.
He secured the most nominations from rank-and-file ANC members and is extensively viewed as the country’s most popular politician.
But his re-election marketing campaign was dogged by the “Farmgate” scandal that broke in June involving massive sums of overseas forex observed hidden at his private sport farm.
Ramaphosa has denied wrongdoing and has not been billed with any crimes above the scandal, but it has raised inquiries about how he acquired the funds and no matter if he declared it.
