Police officer, civilian shot inside midtown Manhattan office building: Sources

A police officer and one other person were shot at an office skyscraper in midtown Manhattan Monday evening, according to law enforcement sources.

The shooting occurred in the lobby of 345 Park Avenue on East 52nd Street. The gunman, armed with an assault rifle, shot a police officer, multiple sources said.

A bystander was also struck by the gunfire, according to sources.

The suspect was said to be dressed all in tan. It was not clear whether the suspect was in custody, or if there were any other active threats remaining.

FDNY at the scene on East 54th St. in New York City for a reported shooting.

Records indicate that multinational businesses with offices inside the building at that address include the National Football League as well as financial firms Blackstone and KPMG.
