Nick Reiner to be charged with murder of dad Rob Reiner, mom Michele: LA DA

Nick Reiner will be charged with two counts of first-degree murder with special circumstances in connection with the brutal killings of his parents, famed Hollywood director Rob Reiner, and Michele Singer Reiner, the Los Angeles County district attorney said Tuesday.

Nick Reiner, 32, faces a maximum possible sentence of life in prison without parole if convicted of the slayings, which occurred at his parents’ home.

“These are some of the most serious charges that a DA’s office can bring against anyone,” said DA Nathan Hochman at a press conference.

Hochman did not discuss an alleged motive for the killings. He said the weapon allegedly used by Nick Reiner was a knife.

On Monday, President Donald Trump suggested, without evidence, that the couple was killed because of “the anger” that Rob Reiner caused in others by opposing Trump and his policies.

Nick Reiner is being held without bail.

He has faced longstanding issues with substance abuse and experienced periods of homelessness as a young man.

The special circumstances that are part of the charges relate to the fact that the allege crime involved multiple killings, Hochman said.
