Justice Jeff Rambin of Texas’s Sixth Court docket of Appeals said in a Tuesday ruling that the state court has denied Meta’s modern petition “seeking reduction from an order persuasive the oral deposition” of Zuckerberg at an unspecified date.

Texas Attorney Common Ken Paxton submitted the lawsuit in February 2022, indicating at the time that Meta has been “capturing and working with the biometric info of hundreds of thousands of Texans with no appropriately acquiring their knowledgeable consent to do so.” Attorneys representing Texas also claimed Meta violated the state’s Deceptive Trade Procedures Act by “failing to disclose information and facts — which includes the simple fact that it collects biometric identifiers — with the intent to induce Facebook people in Texas into employing Facebook, which these kinds of users would not have completed had the details been disclosed.”

In Tuesday’s ruling, the condition of Texas claimed that Zuckerberg has “had unique individual understanding of discoverable facts” that’s pertinent to its lawsuit, alleging that Meta violated condition laws linked to the assortment of biometric data and deceptive trade procedures.

Meta settled a facial recognition-connected course motion lawsuit in 2021 for $650 million. Lawyers mentioned in a filing at the time that it was one of the “largest settlements ever for a privacy violation, and it will place at minimum $345 into the arms of each course member fascinated in getting compensated.”

Meta didn’t respond for a request for comment.
