Japan will supply as a great deal as $1.8 billion in subsidies for a slate of storage battery and chip-connected projects, Marketplace Minister Yasutoshi Nishimura claimed on Friday, marking Tokyo’s latest thrust to larger source chain protection.

The governing administration designs to give up to 184.6 billion yen ($1.38 billion) in subsidies for eight storage battery-connected proposals and up to 56.4 billion yen for two semiconductor-associated initiatives, Nishimura informed reporters.

Between the proposals that it will subsidize is a plan by automaker Honda and battery maker GS Yuasa to commit about 430 billion yen to strengthen storage battery generation, with the ministry furnishing up to 158.7 billion yen in subsidies for the challenge.

“We have great expectations that this will lead to the steady provide of storage batteries and the promotion of GX (green transformation),” Nishimura mentioned.

In a statement, Honda, GS Yuasa and Blue Strength, another battery maker, mentioned they prepared to commence output in April 2027 and would get started mass generation in October 2027.

Japan has taken a 'small step forward' in energy transition plan, but concerns remain: Strategist

They claimed they would get started by creating a new plant that would concentrate on a production potential of at least 20 gigawatt hours, but did not specify a site or give further facts.

“We would like to react to a large selection of battery desire in Japan, which is envisioned to increase in the long run, primarily for BEVs (battery electrical autos),” Honda Chief Government Toshihiro Mibe stated in the statement.

I’ve studied happiness for 15 years: If you do these 9 things every day, you’re more ’emotionally resilient’ than most

It’s important to build resilience, but how do we actually do it? I’ve spent 15 years researching happiness, and I’ve interviewed thousands of people about what makes it possible for them to thrive. I’ve learned that resilience isn’t something you’re born with. It’s not even about bouncing back, a concept that often does more harm […]
