'Stand your butt up': GOP Sen. Mullin challenges Teamsters boss to fight at Senate hearing

A Republican senator and the president of the Teamsters union practically bought in a fistfight Tuesday in the middle of a Senate listening to, right up until Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders stepped in and broke it up.

The trade started when Sen. Markwayne Mullin, Okla., examine a tweet that Teamsters President Sean O’Brien had posted in June.

“You want to operate your mouth? We can be two consenting adults, we can complete it listed here,” Mullin mentioned to O’Brien, who was testifying at a hearing on labor unions in The us.

“Okay, that is wonderful, excellent,” O’Brien replied. “I would love to do it right now.”

“Then stand your butt up then,” Mullin shot again.

“You stand your butt up,” O’Brien reported.

Mullin, dressed in a white shirt and no jacket, then stood up and started to transfer toward O’Brien.

“No, no, sit down! Sit down! You happen to be a United States senator!” shouted Sen. Bernie Sanders, the Vermont impartial and chairman of the Senate Wellness, Schooling, Labor, and Pensions Committee

“This is a listening to. And God is aware the American individuals have ample contempt for Congress, let us not make it worse,” Sanders claimed.

The feud in between the senator and the union boss commenced months earlier.

Mullin instructed O’Brien “to shut your mouth” in a heated trade during a prior hearing in March.

In a social media article later on, in June, O’Brien ragged on Mullin as a “clown and a fraud.”

“Stop the tough guy act in these senate hearings. You know wherever to find me. Anyplace, Whenever cowboy,” O’Brien wrote on X.

Times later, Mullin returned hearth, expressing he accepted the invitation and proposing a combined martial arts struggle for charity.

It was this exchange that prompted Mullin to obstacle O’Brien to a fight in Tuesday’s hearing.
