German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht resigns amid Ukraine war backlash

German Protection Minister Christine Lambrecht on Monday tendered her resignation, amid scrutiny above Berlin’s response to the war in Ukraine.

“Nowadays I asked the Chancellor to be released from the purpose of defence minister,” Lambrecht claimed in a statement, in accordance to a CNBC translation.

Her stepdown arrives as Germany mulls no matter whether to approve an increase in military services assistance to Ukraine in buy to aid Kyiv’s armed forces prevail from the Russian onslaught.

“The aim from the media more than months on my man or woman rarely lets for objective reporting and dialogue about the troopers, the armed forces and the system for security policy in the desire of Germany’s citizens,” Lambrecht explained.
