Davos, Switzerland once again played host to the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting, where many of the world’s most influential voices convened to discuss the pressing global issues impacting global economies, ranging from geopolitics to artificial intelligence and the energy transition.

Just before the forum opened its doors, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States. He became a big talking point in Davos, with big hitters from around the world sharing their views on Trump 2.0. In particular, the president’s widely anticipated trade tariffs were one of the week’s biggest talking points.

The theme of the 2025 meeting was “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” so much of the conversation also centered around Al. On his first full day in office, President Trump announced what he said would be a private sector $500 billion investment into Al infrastructure, which saw OpenAl, SoftBank and Oracle join a venture called Stargate. Many delegates at WEF suggested Trump’s bullish moves in AI and the economy shone a spotlight on Europe’s shortcomings.
