Europe and Israel are generating far more startup ‘mafias’ than at any time regardless of tech rout

  • Of Europe and Israel’s 353 undertaking-backed unicorns, 221 have spun out 1,171 new tech-enabled startup organizations with personnel at these companies leaving to start up their personal ventures, in accordance to a new report from VC agency Accel.
  • The largest examples of companies whose former talent went on to set up new startups contain Spotify, which spawned 32 new firms, Shipping Hero, which generated 32, and Criteo, from which 31 new startups were being born.
  • The development mimics the trend of startup “mafias” in the United States, in which businesses like PayPal indirectly aided make big organizations like Tesla and Palantir.
