Mongolia’s key minister Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene and Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Monday talked about feasible expansion and investments into the Asian nation over a virtual conference.
“They discussed the chance of welcoming Tesla to Mongolia for its electric powered autos battery manufacturing unit, leveraging the country’s huge availability of copper and rare earth elements, which are crucial factors of electric cars’ batteries,” in accordance to a statement issued on behalf of the Mongolian govt.
The East Asian region is loaded in minerals and boasts significant deposits of copper, gold and coal.
“The Mongolian Authorities is committed to cooperating with international organisations to enable strengthen the improvement of new systems and raise investment decision in the place,” the assertion said.

Musk and Oyun-Erdene also spoke about bringing Starlink — a satellite communications terminals and products and services service provider operated by the Musk-established SpaceX — to Mongolia. Starlink was registered as a firm in Mongolia in 2022 and is envisioned to launch regionally this year.
Musk’s conference with the Mongolian chief comes just after the tech huge final week fulfilled with Chinese vice premier Ding Xuexiang and other best officials in China, as Beijing looks to portray a welcoming small business surroundings for international organizations amid tensions with the U.S.
The Tesla CEO complimented China’s technological developments and visited the Tesla gigafactory in Shanghai.
