Boeing’s aircraft deliveries to China have been delayed in recent months owing to a Chinese regulatory evaluation of batteries connected to the cockpit voice recorder, a resource familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The U.S. planemaker explained in a assertion it is operating with Chinese prospects on the timing of their deliveries pending a assessment by the Civil Aviation Administration of China of batteries contained in just the 25-hour cockpit voice recorder.

In a calendar year-conclusion 2023 filing, Boeing stated it experienced approximately 140 737-8 plane in stock, such as 85 plane for prospects in China. Boeing has delivered 22 plane to China in 2024 by way of the end of April.

Boeing mentioned the Federal Aviation Administration has licensed this procedure, which stores additional data than previous cockpit voice recorders.

China in March Boeing gave authorization previous thirty day period to resume deliveries of its 737 Max 8 to local consumers, ending an import freeze on the U.S. planemaker’s most worthwhile jets which arrived shortly right after its 1st shipping and delivery in 2019.

China was the first place to ground Max jets immediately after two incidents in 2018 and 2019 that killed virtually 350 persons.
