The entire record is dominated by European towns, which took seven of the best 10 spots, and 63 of the top 100 spots. That is thanks to the “speedy-paced urbanisation and prevalent engineering adoption” in the location, according to the report.

But Asian cities are attaining ground, displaying substantial improvement from Euromonitor’s 2022 position.

Tokyo is also the only Asian city in the major 10 listing, however the city-state of Singapore is shut at No. 11 — edging up 4 spots from No. 15 on 2022’s checklist.

5 Japanese cities created 2023’s leading 100 list: Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Sapporo and Fukuoka.

Standout metropolitan areas

The report highlighted metropolitan areas that stood out in some of the 55 classes they have been evaluated for.

  • Madrid rated to start with for sustainability, with the report highlighting the city’s “100% petrol-cost-free public transportation.”
  • London has the “greatest tourism infrastructure” in the earth, with 6 Senses, Rosewood, Park Hyatt, Oberoi and Mandarin Oriental arranging to open new resorts in the city.
  • Singapore rated No. 1 for economic and business enterprise effectiveness, and political stability.
  • Macao rated 1st for health and security, although Hong Kong led the rankings for well being and professional medical solutions.  

In addition, four new towns designed this year’s list: Washington (No. 48), Montreal (No. 68), Santiago, Chile, (No. 88) and Vilnius, Lithuania (No. 92), owing to their enhanced tourism performances, the report reported.
