A federal appeals court on Thursday briefly blocked a Property Judiciary Committee subpoena for testimony from a former Manhattan prosecutor who was associated in a felony investigation of ex-President Donald Trump.

The order by the 2nd Circuit Court docket of Appeals in New York arrived just hrs in advance of the previous prosecutor, Mark Pomerantz, had been directed by a federal decide to sit for a deposition with the committee.

Manhattan District Lawyer Alvin Bragg’s place of work is heading an unparalleled legal case versus Trump, the Republican previous president and present-day major presidential candidate, on fees of falsifying small business data. U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil, a Trump nominee, on Wednesday denied Bragg’s work to invalidate the subpoena for Pomerantz.

“The subpoena was issued with a ‘valid legislative purpose’ in relationship with the ‘broad’ and ‘indispensable’ congressional electrical power to ‘conduct investigations,'” Vyskocil wrote in federal courtroom in Manhattan.

“Mr. Pomerantz need to show up for the congressional deposition. No 1 is earlier mentioned the regulation,” the choose wrote.
