AMD jumps 9% on report Microsoft is collaborating on A.I. chip force

AMD shares arrived at a session substantial on Thursday pursuing a media report declaring the chipmaker was operating with Microsoft on a new synthetic-intelligence processor.

Microsoft’s best competitors in the cloud infrastructure sector, Amazon and Alphabet, both of those have their personal specialized chips that software developers can use to train models. But Microsoft to day has not unveiled a unique-goal AI chip. The a single in improvement in partnership with AMD carries the code title Athena, Bloomberg noted.

Microsoft is helping AMD to fund the initiative, Bloomberg noted, citing anonymous sources.

Nvidia shares moved decreased pursuing the report. Like other big technological know-how organizations, Microsoft relies on Nvidia graphics processing models to run AI models.

AMD declined to remark. A Microsoft consultant did not immediately answer to a ask for for comment.
