Alphabet‘s Google claimed on Tuesday it will restrict the styles of election-related queries its chatbot Bard and search generative experience can return responses for, in the operate up to 2024 U.S. Presidential election.

The restrictions are set to be enforced by early 2024, the corporation explained.

Aside from the U.S., a slew of groundbreaking elections are envisioned in 2024, such as national elections in India, the world’s biggest democracy, and South Africa, between other people.

The tech large reported it will “get the job done with an increased aim on the role artificial intelligence (AI) may participate in” as it seems to assistance voters and campaigns connected to these elections.

Facebook-proprietor Meta had also said in November it is barring political campaigns and advertisers in other controlled industries from employing its new generative AI advertising goods.

Advertisers on Meta will also have to disclose when synthetic intelligence (AI) or other digital approaches are applied to change or build political, social or election related commercials on Facebook and Instagram.

On the other hand, Elon Musk’s social media platform X, which is being probed by the European Union, said in August it would now permit political marketing in the U.S. from candidates and political parties. It will also expand its safety and elections workforce in advance of the U.S. election.

All political advertisements had beforehand been banned globally on X because 2019.
