Airlines cancel 5,700 U.S. flights amid intense winter season storms

Airline cancellations topped 5,700 U.S. flights on Friday as significant winter season storms snarled airport functions all-around the United States and annoyed tens of hundreds of getaway vacationers.

That adopted virtually 2,700 canceled flights on Thursday, although just about 1,000 flights have already been canceled for Saturday, according to flight monitoring internet site FlightAware.

Passenger railroad Amtrak has canceled dozens of trains by means of Christmas, disrupting holiday break vacation for hundreds.

Chicago was experiencing dangerously cold temperatures with wind chills hitting minus 24 levels Fahrenheit (minus 31 Celsius).
