German federal police are experiencing a countrywide IT systems outage at airports, a spokesperson said on Friday, forcing officers to manually process passengers arriving from outside Europe’s free-travel Schengen area.

“There is currently a nationwide IT disruption,” the Frankfurt-based spokesperson said, adding that the cause was unknown.

He said entry into Germany is delayed but possible and there is currently no bigger congestion at Frankfurt airport, the country’s busiest.
