CNBC Pro Talks: Outperforming fund manager reveals how to invest after India’s election

CNBC’s Tanvir Gill and Causeway Capital Management’s Arjun Jayaraman

It’s been a volatile time for Indian markets after Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to secure an absolute majority for his party in the country’s general election.

Despite the unexpected result, however, Causeway Capital Management’s Arjun Jayaraman remains confident about the prospects for India — his top pick among emerging markets — noting that “volatility may provide repositioning opportunities.”

On Wednesday’s Pro Talks, CNBC’s Tanvir Gill will ask Jayaraman how to navigate investing in the country, as well as other emerging markets. The portfolio manager and head of quantitative research at Causeway manages its Emerging Markets Fund and International Opportunities Fund.

Both funds have outperformed their benchmarks over the year to May 31, with the former rising 13% versus MSCI Emerging Markets’ 3.5%, and the latter up 9.6% year-to-date compared to the MSCI ACWI ex-U.S.’ 6.1%.

While both funds invest in emerging market stocks, the International Opportunities Fund also holds stocks of companies located in developed countries outside the U.S.

Jayaraman will discuss his favorite stocks across the funds, which range from Big Oil stocks and pharmaceutical firms in the U.K., to renewable energy companies in India.

Join CNBC Pro Talks on Wednesday, June 19, at 6:30 a.m. BST / 1:30 p.m. SGT / 1:30 a.m. ET.
