Taiwan minister suggests 5 China coastline guard ships entered waters all-around Kinmen


Chinese coast guard ships entered prohibited or restricted waters all over Taiwan’s frontline islands of Kinmen on Monday, a Taiwan minister informed reporters on Tuesday amid a increase in pressure with Beijing.

Five Chinese coast guard ships entered prohibited or restricted waters around Taiwan’s frontline islands of Kinmen on Monday, a Taiwan minister told reporters on Tuesday amid a rise in stress with Beijing.

China’s coast guard this month began regular patrols around the Taiwan-controlled Kinmen islands, which are close to China’s shores, following two Chinese nationals died hoping to flee Taiwan’s coast guard after their boat entered prohibited waters.

Kuan Bi-ling, head of Taiwan’s Ocean Affairs Council, explained to reporters the Chinese boats still left the location soon after Taiwan’s coast guard told them to leave.

Democratically governed Taiwan, which China claims as its have territory, has been cautious of endeavours by Beijing to ramp up tension on Taipei subsequent last month’s election of Lai Ching-te as president, a person Beijing considers a “unsafe separatist”.

Six Chinese coast guard officers previous 7 days boarded a Taiwanese vacationer boat carrying 11 crew and 23 passengers to check out its route strategy, certificate and crew licenses, leaving around half an hour afterwards, Taiwan’s coast guard said.
