Taiwan slams Elon Musk, states it is ‘not for sale’ nor section of China

Taiwan is “not for sale,” and neither is it section of China, mentioned Taiwan’s Ministry of International Affairs, in a rebuke to Elon Musk who identified as the island “an integral section of China.”

“Listen up, Taiwan is not portion of the PRC and definitely not for sale!” Taiwan’s Minister of Overseas Affairs Joseph Wu explained late Wednesday on X, also previously recognised as Twitter. PRC refers to the People’s Republic of China, the official name of China.

The concept was in reaction to a comment created by Musk through the All-In Summit, which was a short while ago held in Los Angeles.

“I consider I realize China nicely. I have been there numerous periods and have met with senior management at many levels .. for many yrs,” Musk said. “I believe I’ve got a rather good understanding as an outsider of China.”

Taiwan has been governed independently of China because the island split from the mainland in a civil war in 1949. Beijing proceeds to view Taiwan as component of its territory that really should be reunited with the mainland, by force if important.

Musk, the CEO of X, SpaceX, as effectively as electric powered vehicle maker Tesla, went on to say: China’s plan “has been to reunite Taiwan with China. From their standpoint, perhaps it is analogous to Hawaii or one thing like that, like an integral part of China that is arbitrarily not aspect of China.”

CNBC could not immediately access Musk for remark outdoors office hours.

Wu, in his tweet, extra that he hoped Musk could also check with the Chinese Communist Party to make it possible for its folks access to X, which is at the moment banned in China.

“Hope Elon Musk can also check with the CCP to open X to its folks. Maybe he thinks banning it is a fantastic coverage, like turning off Starlink to thwart Ukraine’s counterstrike versus Russia,” Wu reported.

In the early days of Russia’s war on Ukraine, Musk had reportedly curtailed a Ukrainian army assault on Russia by restricting obtain to the SpaceX’s Starlink satellite community. The move attracted backlash from Ukraine and Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

This is not the to start with time that Musk has drawn ire from the self-ruled island.

Past Oct, the billionaire also drew rebuke from Taiwan for his suggestion that tensions amongst China and Taiwan could be resolved if Beijing experienced some command more than Taiwan.
