Elon Musk phone calls for federal office of AI immediately after Capitol Hill summit

Tesla CEO Elon Musk termed for a federal section of AI in a dialogue with reporters following a Capitol Hill summit that showcased higher-profile tech leaders, activists and researchers.

Musk arrived at the Capitol in a black Tesla on Wednesday morning to share his thoughts with Congress and other tech executives, which includes OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. Musk has earlier explained that unchecked synthetic intelligence offers a dire risk to humanity and reiterated that stance in his feedback Wednesday.

“I feel this conference could go down in historical past as significant to the upcoming of civilization,” Musk explained to reporters immediately after the summit. AI advancement, the billionaire ongoing, “is most likely damaging to all humans almost everywhere.”

Musk expressed optimism about the conference, indicating that there appeared to be a “powerful consensus.” Musk believed it possible that federal AI section could function similarly to the Federal Aviation Administration or the Securities and Exchange Fee, introducing that individuals in the place experienced to be “proactive when reactive.”

Musk in July launched his very own AI company, xAI. There has been minor information from inside of the company, but Musk has produced recurring community statements that AI enhancement need to have potent guardrails.
