The European Fee on Wednesday claimed it specified 6 tech giants as “gatekeepers” under its new Digital Markets Act — a rigid established of policies set to shake up the business models’ of significant electronic platforms.

The Commission explained that it deems Amazon, Apple, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft and China’s ByteDance as “gatekeepers.” The phrase refers to massive world-wide-web platforms which the EU views are proscribing access to core system companies, these kinds of as on the web research, promoting, and messaging and communications.
