Terry Gou, the billionaire founder of significant Apple Inc supplier Foxconn, stated on Monday he was moving into the race to be Taiwan’s following president as an impartial candidate in 2024 elections.

Gou stepped down as Foxconn chief in 2019 and made a presidential bid that year, but dropped out right after he failed to earn the nomination for Taiwan’s main opposition social gathering, the Kuomintang, or KMT, which typically favors near ties with China.
