Russian forces ruined 20 Ukrainian drones introduced on to the Crimean Peninsula early on Saturday, Russia’s defense ministry explained.

There ended up no casualties and no damage as a final result of the attempted attack, the ministry claimed on the Telegram messaging app. It mentioned 14 drones were wrecked by air defense units and 6 have been suppressed by electronic warfare.

Reuters could not independently verify the report.

It was not immediately clear what was focused in the documented assaults on the Russian-annexed peninsula.

Sergei Kryuchkov, an adviser to the Russia-installed governor of Crimea, stated previously that air protection devices were being engaged in repelling air assault in distinct areas of the peninsula.

Crimea transport authorities mentioned on their Telegram channel that traffic on the Crimean Bridge, which inbound links the Black Sea peninsula with the Russian region of Krasnodar, was suspended for about two hrs from 1:30 a.m. (2230 GMT).

Drone assaults on Russian-controlled territories in Ukraine and deep inside of Russia have amplified due to the fact a drone was wrecked over the Kremlin in early Might.

Ukraine virtually under no circumstances publicly claims obligation for the assaults but has explained destroying Russia’s army infrastructure is critical for Kyiv’s counteroffensive.

Moscow annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014, eight yrs in advance of President Vladimir Putin requested the complete-scale invasion of Russia’s neighbor in February final yr.
