IBM to obtain software business Apptio for .6 billion

IBM on Monday declared it will acquire the computer software organization Apptio from Vista Equity Partners for $4.6 billion.

The business mentioned the acquisition of Apptio, which offers economic and operational IT administration and optimization tools, is a continuation of IBM’s financial investment in AI and IT automation software. IBM said in a launch that Apptio will help it progress its application management, optimization and observability offerings.

Shares of IBM closed up 1% on Monday.

Apptio at present serves far more than 1,500 clientele, together with important tech businesses this sort of as Amazon, Microsoft and Google. It has three main choices that enable shoppers manage their cloud tactic.
