A Delta Airways pilot was arrested in Scotland after he confirmed up drunk for a New York City-bound flight and pressured the trip’s cancellation, officers alleged Tuesday.

Flight 209 generally leaves Edinburgh Airport at 10:35 a.m. SCT on a 7½-hour journey to John F. Kennedy Intercontinental Airport, but it never received off the floor Friday.

The pilot, recognized only as a 61-yr-aged man, was arrested at about 10 a.m. community time, police claimed.

He was booked on suspicion of violating the U.K.’s Railways and Transport Safety Act 2003, which bars pilots and other transport operators from being impaired on the job.

The flight was “canceled and prospects have been reaccommodated on other flights,” Delta stated in a assertion.

“We apologize to consumers impacted by this cancellation,” it extra.

A Delta representative declined Tuesday to say irrespective of whether the pilot was nevertheless utilized or traveling for the carrier.

“Delta is assisting the authorities with their on-going” investigation, the spokesperson reported.

A representative of the Air Line Pilots Affiliation declined Tuesday to say no matter if the suspect is a member or whether the union is providing any legal representation.

Delta operates every day flights from Edinburgh Airport to New York, Boston and Atlanta.
