Home Republicans request paperwork on the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan

WASHINGTON — House Republicans on Friday referred to as on the Biden administration to release facts about the chaotic U.S. departure from Afghanistan.

In a sequence of letters despatched to senior management at the departments of Defense, Condition, Homeland Protection, and the U.S. Agency for Intercontinental Progress, GOP lawmakers requested all documents, communications and details related to what they identified as the Biden administration’s “disastrous armed service and diplomatic withdrawal from Afghanistan.”

“U.S. servicemen and females missing their lives, People were being deserted, taxpayer dollars are unaccounted for, the Taliban obtained entry to armed service tools, progress for Afghan women of all ages was derailed, and the total space is now under hostile Taliban manage,” wrote Republican Rep. James Comer of Kentucky and other vital GOP associates.

“The American individuals have earned solutions and the Biden Administration’s ongoing obstruction of this investigation is unacceptable,” added Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee.

The U.S. concluded its withdrawal from the airport in Kabul on Aug. 31, 2021. The departure correctly ended a two-ten years conflict that commenced soon right after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

President Joe Biden requested the full withdrawal of around 3,000 U.S. troops from Afghanistan in April 2021. At the time, he questioned all American company members to depart the war-weary region by Sept. 11 of that 12 months. He afterwards moved the deadline up to the stop of August.

The U.S. released its war in Afghanistan in Oct 2001, months soon after the Sept. 11 attacks. The Taliban at the time available sanctuary to al-Qaeda, which planned and carried out the devastating terrorist attacks on the Environment Trade Middle and the Pentagon.
