Envoy Air says a pilot who was noted incapacitated for the duration of flight has died

An Envoy Air flight returned to Chicago shortly immediately after takeoff on Saturday night right after a pilot was incapacitated and afterwards died, the carrier explained Tuesday.

“In spite of heroic endeavours by all those on board and very first responders on the floor, our colleague handed absent at the hospital,” Envoy Air, a regional provider owned by American Airlines, mentioned in a statement. “We’re deeply saddened and are doing all we can to assist his loved ones and our colleagues at this time.”

Capt. Ric Wilson, vice president of Envoy’s flight operations, claimed in a take note to employees that the pilot was a captain in coaching.

Envoy did not comment on the lead to of the health care emergency. The Air Line Pilots Affiliation, the union which signifies Envoy’s pilots, did not comment.

Envoy Air Flight 3556, an Embraer E175, flying for mother or father corporation American Airlines‘ American Eagle returned to Chicago O’Hare Worldwide Airport at 7:57 p.m. community time, 37 minutes following departing for Columbus, Ohio, according to FlightRadar24.

An audio recording of messages to air targeted traffic controllers suggests “captain is incapacitated,” according to ATCLive, which has an archive on its web page. “We are heading to need paramedics,” reported the man or woman on the recording, who seemed to be another pilot on the flight.

 Commercial jetliners are crewed by a minimum amount of two pilots.

The Federal Aviation Administration explained it is investigating and a spokeswoman said that these types of incidents are uncommon.
