Six people today had been killed and 81 others wounded on Sunday when an explosion rocked a chaotic pedestrian avenue in central Istanbul in what Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan known as a bomb attack that “smells like terrorism.”

Ambulances raced to the scene on the packed Istiklal Avenue, which police experienced immediately cordoned off. The space, in the Beyoglu district of Turkey’s greatest metropolis, had been crowded as typical at the weekend with buyers, vacationers and people.

No one has claimed accountability for the blast. Istanbul and other Turkish cities have been specific in the previous by Kurdish separatists, Islamist militants and other groups, such as in a sequence of attacks in 2015 and 2016.

‘People froze’

Vice President Oktay mentioned, “We are assessing it as an act of terror”.

If verified, it would be the 1st big bomb blast in Istanbul in several years.
