Amusement parks like Six Flags, Disney and Universal spend millions on safety

Though the amusement park industry has been around since the 1550s, rides are not federally regulated. State regulation only began in 1981. At Six Flags, along with many other parks, safety costs millions. That includes adherence to international safety standards and internal and independent examinations. As a result, ride-related injuries are becoming increasingly rare.
