NBA coach Chauncey Billups, player Terry Rozier arrested in gambling probes

Portland Trailblazers head coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat player Terry Rozier were separately arrested Thursday morning in connection with federal investigations into gambling, a law enforcement official told CNBC.

Billups, a former star player for the Detroit Pistons who played 17 years in the NBA, was arrested in Portland.

Rozier was arrested in Orlando, Florida.

Rozier, a 10-year NBA veteran, reportedly had been eyed for months over suspicious sports betting activity related to his play.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York, and FBI Director Kash Patel are scheduled to hold a press conference on the cases Thursday morning.

Billup was named NBA Finals Most Valuable Player in 2004 when the Pistons defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in the league’s finals.
